The LAS design and development team uses flow simulation software to validate all production level designs for customer review. LAS engineers input data into the fume hood designs to simulate the airflows of the hood in the lab, in order to examine critical air velocities.
Air Flow in Action
Below is a simulation of the airflow within a custom fume hood at the specified sash opening height.
This illustration shows air velocity in feet per minute (ft/min) as it pulls from the work access opening and draws across the work surface towards the back of the hood. The fume hood operator is always protected, as fumes within the hood will not escape through the sash, partially due to the LAS baffle design.
